Aren't we Malaysians?

SHAH ALAM: Dissatisfaction over the appointment of a non-bumiputra to helm the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) as acting general manager did not stop the state from giving the post to a Chinese.

Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said the appointment of a non-bumiputra was a short-term measure for one year to ensure the effective continuation of management.

On being told that certain quarters are against the appointment of a non-bumiputra to the post, Khalid smiled and said, that “it is their view and this is mine”.

1. Why the dissatisfaction? Arent we all Malaysians? What are histories for?

2. Why short term?

3. On the third paragraph, good on you.

Pull Plug

I have never resuscitated (successfully) even 1 patient before.

How sad.

What sadder is when an MO pull plug just to convince himself and the family members that 'Look, guys... we've done our part in resuscitating your wife... she's dead now as evidenced by the fake asystole picture on the cardiac monitor.'

Why cheat in clinical practice? Why? I do not understand. I was part of the team as well today and I feel utterly dismayed and embarrassed.

This act, in my opinion, is only meant for those who are not confident in their clinical judgement, those who have no balls whatsoever to tell the family members the truth even if patient was unsalvagable... why not 'Look, guys, we've done the best we could in the past 30 mins or so... and the patient is in PEA (pulseless electrical activity), most probably due to the drugs that we've given in the process of resuscitating... and bla bla bla...'

Why did he have to make such terrible decision of pulling plug and worse, print out the asystole ECG picture to show the family members so as to convince them she's dead?

I have not much experience. May someone enlighten me? Please.

B u l l y = Back off, U low life 人(people)

PM said that this issue was started by a non-BN political party(ies). Has he given some thoughts as to why the 'komponen parties' did not make such comment or vice versa? Maybe, it's the conflict of interests in themselves. They are scared of losing things, things that they take for granted for the past 51 years. Not the interest of the Rakyat!

I agree that oppositions are voicing out the statement, so what? It is this bossy attitude of BN or rather _ _ _ _ that makes our country where she is today. Instead of listening, BN is filtering all good advices and constructive comments by the oppositions, if not the Rakyat. And, this cowardy attitude has led our country into a very dire situation right now.

Rakyat are becoming restless. However, what did they do? Political gimmick! One after another. The 'new' MCA has formed. Hopefully, they are gearing towards a more positive approach as well as leadership in the future. Personally, I think Ong Tee Kiat is not a bad one. Let see what he can do for us, Malaysians?

Our current leaders should take some lessons from Mandela on both consistency and idealism. Like most Malaysians, I am extremely dissapointed by the lack of leadership (dictatorship and weaklingship) in this country and by the lack of true long term solutions to the present state of the nation, both domestic and abroad. Mandela survived under unspeakable hardship with consistency and idealism. For me, idealism means practicable idealism. It can be done, dont use it as an excuse and tell others 'you are living in your own perfect world.

Dont talk through multimedia and hope that the Rakyat will be fooled. The media is controlled anyway, so no use reading newspaper or watching news on tv. We are watching, listening and analysing. In general, we are not educated enough to voice it out / they are educated enough to suppress the voices?

There is hope for the future. There is. As long as we embrace the approach of a true Malaysian, i.e. non-race, non-colour, non-religion based way of leading the country. Only that, true harmony is imminent.

English version:

Basically, do not let your children below 12 years old (preferably 20) use mobile phones.

Did some research on it, and I found:

Using a cell phone regularly – even a modern one – raises the risk of developing a brain tumor for many users, a new Finnish study published online in the International Journal of Cancer. The study, done by a collection of researchers from many universities and led by Anna Lahkola of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in Finland, found firm corollary evidence that using a cell phone causes the risk of getting a brain tumor called a glioma to rise by 40 to 270 percent on the side of the head preferred for using the phone.

Some articles say no. So evidence still awaiting validity.

However, I dont see a point of a child below 12 years old using a cell. How heavy a price we are paying for modernization.

. . .

A WIDESPEAD videoclip, purportedly showing two children engaging in sexual acts, has caused shock and concern among parents, reported Harian Metro.

The 30-minute clip titled “Budak-Budak Pun Dah Pandai Sekarang (Even Children Are Well Informed Now)” has been circulating on the Internet and via mobile phones.

A boy and a girl – believed to be around eight years of age – are seen in the clip stripping off their clothes and kissing each other, the paper reported.

Their acts are believed to have taken place on top of an abandoned building, where it was filmed.

The Malay daily in its front-page story, however, said it could not be ascertained if the children were locals.

The clip was made known after several concerned parents called the newspaper expressing their worries.

WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON???

Will comment more after exam.

If world leaders can sit in congresses to discuss about oil prices and warfare, shouldnt they also discuss about educating the next generation? Exams, results, top-tier universities, money... they are defeating the meaning of education.

Can medical students be slightly more responsible?

As Albert Einstein geniusly put it 'Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either.'

Can we trust these future doctors?

I do not know.

Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.

Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.

Sunday, June 1

It's been a while.

Yeah, it's been a while, really.

Especially, after the burma's agony and sichuan (四川)'s catastrophe, not to mention the volatile mess of our beloved 'boleh'land.

I've been wondering: How to educate unkind/evil people?

Someone said this:

"I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans, because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else. And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you're not nice, that the bad things happen to you?"

If anyone in your family has an accident and someone says it's bad karma because your family is not that nice to others, how are you gonna react? how are the Chinese gonna react when they are grieving more than 68k of fellow countrymen?

Fortunately, she apologized. I dont know, maybe Dalai's friend was overdoped during the Cannes festival.

The other said this:

“I want them to charge me in court. Only then will I have the opportunity to expose more conflicts faced by the judges, including those who have implicated me.”

Those were the words from the man who ruled Malaysia with an iron fist for 22 years.

Following the report prepared by a royal commission that investigated a video clip allegedly showing top lawyer, Mr. It-sounds-like-me-it-looks-like-me-but-it's-not-me brokering judge appointments, at least we, the Rakyat get to know a bit more, probably 1% of the whole truth?

Do not blame the government, because I think it's us, the Rakyat that allowed this to happen. Yes, we allowed the judge-fixing scandal, we allowed the corruptions, we allowed the iron-fist, etc.

So is it not too late for us, the Rakyat to buck up and start critically analyse and govern our own government?

Stand up, people!

Speak up, people!

Have the courage to do the right thing, although 99% out there are not doing it.

Heed the calling Part 2

At first, well, I thought my beloved magician doc friend of mine is having delusion.

I am flattered. Thanks 健源 (well, it's his name in Mandarin) !!!

About the delusion, after much thoughts, I always feel that I have the responsibility (使命感) to this society, this country, this beloved mothernature, etc. From the red hot passion in believing that everything can be solved through politics (oh, I was so so so naive) to now where I strongly believe that if everyone just spends a lil bit more time to look at things around them, they will find that, things are not so bad after all. Spread your love to others as love transcends border. Love is something not as superficial as saying "_ ____ ___", I assert. Everyone deserves the same love, the same dignity and the same respect as a human being from me at least.

Above are a few reasons as well, why I started to blog. I hope that through sharing of my thoughts and values of life, I could at least contribute a lil more to this very society I live in.

As for him, Darren 健源, I am very proud to have him as one of my few best friends. I remember him telling me of his dream to heed the calling even during early high school days. And of course, I am very very very very very proud that his persistence has finally come to fruitation. In my mind, our country has produced one more very fine and good doctor who is ready to serve. I can't wait to join you in the service as well, my friend!

eh, Darren, I wanna learn magic!!! 友情价!!! (by which, I mean dont charge me so high la!!!) ^^v

To do what I love most at this point is the one of the best things that has ever happened in my life.

Consistency

When will he stop scoring?

It's the time of the year again! Championship derby, battle for relegation, european honor and the oldest of all, FA Cup.

With 5 games remaining in the BPL, nerves can play a part, form can play a part, but consistency has the biggest part to play, imho.

But, it's football. Anything can happen.

Isnt life like football?

Professor

She inspires me every time she teaches.

She is strict yet has a sense of humor.

Her basic sciences are rock solid.

And, she's definitely a role model.

She said, A Doctor is a scientist and a humanitarian.

I couldn't agree more.

I am thrilled every time I see her.

And wish to learn from her as much as possible.

Heed the calling

Saw this in peds clinic the other day. Thought it would be nice to share.

Vocation does not mean a goal that I pursue.
It means a calling that I have.
Before I can tell my life what I want to do with it.
I must listen to my life telling me who I am.

Oh wells, it applies perfectly in me.

口说好话,心想好事,手脚做好贡献。

Have you become more ignorant after seeing more and more deaths, especially those you know personally, in your path to becoming a doctor?

It's a NO NO for me.

In fact, I feel indeed very thankful the moment I wake up every morning nowadays, knowing that here I go, 1 more day for me, what good can I do?

Forget about the negative things, the comparing of whose marks are better (doesn't mean that it's an excuse to slack off), whose skills are better, which "beura" is better, etc.

Why not change the mindset instead, remember about how to live a life, how to help, how to contribute, how to be positive in every aspect of life, how to cultivate inner happiness, etc.

Just a random thought that I must quickly write it down.

Nothing is for granted. Always think, from what if I do not again have the convenience of turning on and off electricity so easily, the same goes for water to the other end of the spectrum, what if I lose someone that I truly treasure?

imho, always do what's right although 90% of ppl out there think it's wrong because they've been living in the world of lies for so long.

Do not ever cheat ourselves.

And, I dislike the word busy.

Farewell my friend

Again, today I witnessed the worst-of-all in this cruel museum of life.

Dr.Khor, passed away in a road traffic accident yesterday. He's our good senior, colleague and a friend, who was very willing to help us whenever we need him.

Thank you for all the teachings you've given us.
Thank you for all the good cases and signs you've shown us.
Thank you for all the advices you've shared with us.
Thank you for letting us create problems for you.
Thank you for the time we spent together.

I truly enjoyed all of them.

May you rest in peace.

Let us all pray for Dr.Khor.

He'll be dearly missed.

Life's just so fragile. Nevertheless, it's the depth that counts, not the length.

Healers.

Hospitals are like the Museum of Human Life. One can find birth, aging, illness, death, and all walks of life. It is not unlikely that in the hospital, many people start to ponder the significance of life. Well, I always do.

During the process of serving the patients, a feeling of peace and of being needed emerges. The most valuable reward that I obtain is the beauty from the smiling faces of the patients. Thence, I learn and learn and learn to be grateful, appreciate and be satisfied with what I have and continue to serve them and to learn from our greatest teachers.

Thank you.

Try Try Try Try and Try

There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest/voice out our concerns.

Utmost dissapointment

It is dangerous to be right in matters on which the established authorities are wrong.

Where is our 道德勇气?

A friend of mine (lawyer) once told about stories in the court. That makes me ponder. A jury consists of twelve people determine which client has the better lawyer. Has the world gone haywire?

I strongly believe, all of us need more love.

As of now, I am still disgusted.

Or, ppl nowadays just continue to be selfish and continue not to care?

?????????????????????????????????

I don't know. Think about it.

Don't waste my time, Don't disturb me. Do whatever you want to do.

I am very happy today.

We continue learning through our lives. I guess that's very true.

Today, I learnt something new, something invaluable, i.e. to give instructions clearly and everything can be solved without having to raise our voices.

There is no one that I can't forgive in this world. Actually, I might even have to thank him because of the lesson he taught me.

"You are screwing things up!!!" "You are scrammed!!!" (actually I did't even catch it when he said that to me, for a moment I thought he meant "you're a scum!!!" lol...) hey, maybe I was, who knows.

Those who were with me know exactly what has happened.

1. Please give clear instructions.
2. Please do not shout at subordinates in front of a full clinic because they will badmouth you behind your back!!! (not because they will badmouth you know, omg do I need to say this... this is the most basic respect you have for a person, a human being)
3. Please please and please do not tell patients to stop wasting your time. Too naive to understand? Or too hard to swallow the pride? zzz... end of the day, without the patients, we are NOTHING.

That makes me ponder quite abit. I strongly believe that medical schools are there to accomodate those who think medicine is their life, not some straight As arrogant bastards who think this is a glamorous job that can earn him/her millions.

I am sorry if I am screwing you around because that will be the last time.

And, most importantly...

Thanks for enlightening me.

2008

New year is the season of ignorance and superstition - the decor wasting our scarce resources, the light consuming our limited energy, the fireworks driving out demons, etc.

They call it the New Year Resolution. Well, I think the New Year Irresolution.

The northern pole is vanishing in 7 years, we are breathing in more toxic air than ever, so much greed hovering in and around us, and not to mention the endless wars. The END of human civilization is no longer a myth, it's a cold and hard fact. If there so much we can do, we can only slow down this process and pray for miracles to happen. In the hope that the higher beings/powers (whoever you believe in) that stay as our guardian for so long without any whining would forgive our ignorance, we, on our part should be sincere in making the change.

Can you do something about it? I strongly believe that even 1 person can make an impact.

That's the price we are paying for human civilization.

Without a doubt, we are living in the cursed dynasty.
