Whoa, I am back!

Finally finally finally. I am able to access internet since god-knows-how-many-days ago. And now, I've got only an hour plus to do my studies and Bloggy!!! *sigh*

Oh wells, this is my 4th day at the Neurology department.

Interestingly enough, I am given 2 patients to manage all by myself, and of course every decision that I make needs to be co-signed by my supervisor, the CR (chief resident). In fact, I was in the kelam-kabut state on the whole monday and tuesday morning, not knowing wot to do. I was literally blank!!! In addition, they are too tech-oriented for me to follow. The hospital is practically paperless.

On another unpleasantly interesting note, they hardly do physical examinations here, starting from the clerks, interns, residents and even the young specialists. Actually I was quite stunned. However, I decided to learn from their strong points, i.e. one of them is of course the technology.

Sometimes I just feel that some of us (both doctors as well as student-doctors) have become too specialized that our patients, on the other end of the spectrum suffer because they do not get treated as a whole. Do patients get really well if we spend more than 90% of our time reading MRI and CTs? Personally, I dont think so.

Try putting ourselves in their shoes, wot do we expect of our doctors? I strongly feel that there is this non-white and non-black area in the midst of black and white. The same goes for EBM and humanity in the practice of medicine. Strike a balance, mate!!!

Cheers,
Jing. See ya soon!!!

2nd Day, Taipei - Jioufen - Yehliu - Jiaoxi

Today's definitely much better, thanks to the modest Jioufen village,
and 1 more thing: no used condom!!!
As usual, tiredness has already crept into mah soul...
ah... before I forget, I realized that...
I am more of a backpacker rather than ground tour follower.
Ok without further ado,
lemme introduce the pictures of the day *wink* :

National (they are not really a nation) Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall. The 4 chinese characters 大中至正 simply means errr... INTEGRITY, the value of which should be imprinted into the Malaysian politicians' minds.

Poems on the pedestrian walk.
没有爱情 这世界 只能再也无须留恋了. gosh, I am starting to miss home. I am starting to miss the ones I love.

Another political gimmick? Reminds me of what they will do before the general election back home. *sigh*

Proud to be a chinese.
It was taken @ the National Museum, voted one of the bests in the world. For your info, there are more than 600,000 masterpieces in there. However,
there will be only a couple of thousands displayed.
Where are the rest? They are being kept in the mountain behind the museum,
heavily guarded by the army because any 1 piece inside there can make you a trillion-aire.

Isn't the museum magnificent? Unfortunately, we are not allowed to snap a picture inside.

Being me, I decided challenge the impossible. Needless to say, I was caught and being warned!!! *what a n00b*

Jioufen, City of Sorrow, 悲情城市。

Inside the village.

Another view inside.

Another view of Jioufen.

Yehliu Geopark.

Queen's Head @ Yehliu Geopark.

I am writing this post from here!!! and dead tired...:P

Till then,
Jing is Tiredo Sleepo.

1st Day, Nan Gang, Taipei

I am really really tired. So I am just gonna post some pictures... lol... there's nothing much really... most of the time was just spent on the plane, car and bus. ok, so here it goes:

This is my vehicle from 1525 - 2000.

There's only 1 Kuala Lumpur there...

Dad & I @ Taoyuan International Airport, Taipei.

King of France Palace Hotel (sounds grand but not really!!!)

Hotel Lobby, very europian-ish, and at times, erotic!!!

Another example of the europian-ism.

SPARTAAAA!!!

And lastly, after showering, we (dad & I) took a walk around the area @ 11:30pm.

Signing off now,
Jing is tired.

oh oh, wait wait... the reason why I said the hotel looked and sounded great but not really is because my dad accidentally stepped on a USED condom!!! HOLY MOLLY!!! *speechless*, explains the erotic pictures and guide's words (he told us that the hotel is full of romance!!! *eww*) really really well!!! grrrrrrrrrrrrr... what will you do if you were us???

oh wells, I can only hope that tomorrow will be the start of all the excitement. and I really really need to oink oink already.

Signing off again,
For real. ^^v

心灵之程

In less than 4 days, I will be on the Taiwan soil, with the main objectives of completing my medical electives and selectives.

and yeah, I am super excited

Come to think of it, it's been almost 4 years now since I last stepped on any foreign soil.

I've been busy recently, doing all the packing, visa and planning of how I wanna spend my time in Taiwan in the most cost-effective way, as we all know, budget!!!

I categorize my trip into 3 portions/phases: 1. Backpack + Tour around the island, 2. Selectives + Electives and 3. Attending the World Tzu Chi Camp for University Students.

Hopefully, I will be able to travel, keep learning and most importantly mature spiritually (This is the most important reason why I chose Tzu Chi General Hospital in Hua Lien)

till then,
jing is too busy packing... :P

Uncensored

Your Blogging Type is Unique and Avant Garde

You're a bit ... unusual. And so is your blog.
You're impulsive, and you'll often post the first thing that pops in your head.
Completely uncensored, you blog tends to shock... even though that's not your intent.
You tend to change your blog often, experimenting with new designs and content.

OMG, most are true... except for the impulsive part :P

Life

... look bottom right

Patients are our best teachers

but yet...

I couldn't help but to flick it from sasha, hope you don't mind. i think people in this field need to know this.

A specialist once said, "Some of you are religious people. You are willing to spend 2 hours in the church, mosque or temple, but do you spend 5 minutes holding the hand of the patient in your ward? 5 minutes talking to the patient in your clinic?"

Confusion + ex-IVDU

28-year-old gentleman who presented with acute confusion and was an ex-ivdu. Diagnosis?

Finally

Yeah, I decided to blog. Reasons? To share. Afterall, writing is much more interesting than reading other ppl's blog. Life is short, why not we share and live lives to the fullest. =)

*actualy I am testing how my blog turns out to be (hidden agenda)

*n00b trying to learn how to blog*

cheers,
jing.
